Our 20” wheeled HÜTTO DISC is perfect for a rider that has outgrown their SKØG or who is needing their first geared bike and wanting to tackle some more aggressive terrain. Like the standard HÜTTO, this DISC version features the same EPOK™ growing technologies, but is equipped with upgraded lightweight wheels with sealed cartridge bearings, super grippy Schwalbe Black Jack offroad tyres and Tektro mechanical disc brakes for even greater control and stopping power. Whether new to riding, or moving up from our SKØG or another bike, HÜTTO DISC is the ultimate bicycle for your child to develop their riding on, learning to change gears easily, quickly and safely.
Our HÜTTO DISC starts life as a small lightweight pedal bike, which is ideal either as a first geared bike or as a natural progression on from any single geared bike. HÜTTO DISC gives your child the chance to gain confidence and develop their cycling skills whilst mastering gears for the first time.
Our unique EZ:SHIFT shifter combines the practicality and ease of a twist shifter, with the power of a trigger shifter. This unique shifter combined with Shimano’s brand new Tourney short cage derailleur means that HÜTTO has the easiest gear change of any 18” bike.
Then, with our unique patented UP:SCALE growing frame design, you can transform the bike into a larger pedal bike as your child grows.
As with all of our UP:SCALE bikes your child doesn’t need to ‘grow into it’ – with HÜTTO DISC you ‘dial’ it down to fit them properly from the start, then as they grow and get stronger, the bike frame grows and develops with them. And with our UP:RISE stem extender you can also increase the ‘cockpit’ size of the bike very easily. What this means is that HÜTTO DISC (like the all our bikes) fits better, and lasts longer than any other kids’ bike (see for sizing help).

HÜTTO Size & Modes
HÜTTO DISC rolls on 20” wheels and is the second geared bike in the Black Mountain EPOK range. It is aimed at children from around 6 years old, fitting those in the 118cm to 134cm height range, or until they are approximately 8.5 years old (depending on growth rate). HÜTTO DISC is the ideal starter bike for kids transitioning from a single speed bike to a fully geared bike. Please use our to work out if HÜTTO DISC is right for your child based on their ability and height.
MODE 1
Our HÜTTO DISC starts life as a small lightweight pedal bike, which is ideal either as a first geared bike or as a natural progression on from our 16” SKØG. HÜTTO DISC gives your child the chance to gain confidence and develop their cycling skills whilst mastering gears for the first time. Our unique EZ:SHIFT system is the first twist-shifter specifically designed for young riders. Operating like a normal twist-shift across the high gears, but with benefit of a thumb paddle that acts like a trigger shifter when changing into the harder low gears. With EZ:SHIFT it’s never been easier to change gear.
MODE 2
As your child grows in size and confidence you simply adjust the UP:SCALE frame system (see here for how this works) to transform HÜTTO DISC into a large pedal bike, which increases the frame size by about 20%. This makes the most of the easy rolling 20” wheel size, and means that the bike will last your child longer.
BALANCE MODE (PURCHASED SEPARATELY)
Some children come to cycling a little later in life and can find gears and pedals confusing at the start. So just like our smaller PINTO, SKØG and KAPĒL models you can also set up HÜTTO DISC as a balance bike. You can buy the (Note: it does not come as standard).
